Our ethos… Helping you back to your best. Your health and wellbeing is our priority.
Here at JL PhysioFit we provide an expert physiotherapy service that is focused on establishing the root cause of your problem, not simply treating ‘where it hurts’. Based in the heart of Ponteland, just outside Newcastle, we work alongside our patients to understand their needs, whilst guiding them through a comprehensive and thorough assessment.
Identifying and understanding the factors that feed into the problem enables us to construct a specific treatment plan that works for you. Information will be given to you in a clear and easy to understand manner.
We encourage our clients to take an active role in their recovery so that the benefits of physio last long after the problem is resolved. As part of this, it is important that you understand what treatment method’s we can use in order to best help your problem. A list of common conditions and treatments can be found on our home page.
The clinic has full disabled access including a stairlift, widened corridors and a disabled toilet. Please let us know prior to your appointment if you need any further help and we will gladly assist.

Meet our team
James LuccockMCSP - Managing Director - Senior Physiotherapist
First Class BSc (Hons) Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, Acupuncturist, Pilates Instructor, Titleist Performance Institute Certified, HCPC registered
James is the owner and founder of JL PhysioFit and was born and brought up in Newcastle.
He started his professional training in Nottingham, where he successfully completed an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
James returned North primarily to pursue his passion for football, playing semi-professionally for a number of Northern League clubs. In particular, James made more than 250 appearances for North Shields F.C. and his career highlight came in 2015 when he proudly lifted the F.A.Vase trophy at Wembley stadium after a thrilling 2-1 extra-time victory over Glossop North End.
Whilst playing football James decided to specialise as a Physiotherapist and completed his training at Northumbria University, graduating with a First-Class Honours Degree.
He took up his first Physio post at Sunderland Royal Hospital completing rotations in outpatients, elderly care and respiratory medicine on the intensive care unit. James then obtained a post as an occupational health musculoskeletal physiotherapist and moving and handling trainer for the hospital trust. This role saw him deliver both physiotherapy treatments to patients and moving and handling training to hospital staff.
James then went on to work as a Private MSK Physiotherapist in Gosforth, Newcastle, successfully managing a busy and varied caseload of patients for over three and a half years: it was this experience that convinced James to strike out and establish his own clinic – and so JL PhysioFit was created.
In addition to being a fully-qualified physiotherapist, James is also an APPI qualified Pilates Instructor and really enjoys this side to his job, putting on challenging yet rewarding classes for clients.
A strong believer in always moving forward and advancing his knowledge and skills, James has carried out Post graduate training in the following:
Level 3 diploma in Sports massage
Taping and strapping course
Foundation Acupuncture Qualification
Masters level MSK/pain neuroscience training
Titleist Performance Institute Certification
Most recently he has embarked on his Body Master diploma and has completed master classes in the Hip, Knee and Ankle to date.
Away from work – and having ended his time as a semi-pro footballer – James has shifted his attention to golf, playing as a member at Close House Golf Club.
James is Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified and as such is able to carry out full body screens to help golfers of all abilities identify physical restrictions that may be affecting the efficiency of their golf swing.
James really enjoys the work he does with golfers given his own passion for the sport and is a big advocate for golfers working on changes to their bodies to help improve their game.
BSc Physiotherapy, Post Graduate Diploma Neuro Musculo Skeletal Health Care, Post Graduate Certificate Musculo Skeletal Diagnostic and Interventional Ultrasound, Independent Prescriber
Ramakrishna (Ram) is a highly experienced state registered physiotherapist, sonographer, and an independent prescriber.
Having achieved a bachelors degree in Physiotherapy from Karnatak University, India, in 2001 Rami went on to gain a post graduate diploma in neuro-musculoskeletal health care from Keele University in 2003.
After gaining significant clinical experience in musculoskeletal medicine, orthopaedics and the treatment of sports injuries, he went on to further specialise in injection therapy and achieved post-graduate certification in musculoskeletal diagnostic and interventional ultrasound techniques.
Rami uses ultrasound to diagnose and treat a wide range of joint, muscle, tendon, ligament and nerve-related problems; the scans enable him to administer highly-accurate ultrasound-guided injections and other advanced procedures to help relieve many painful conditions.
Ultrasound and ultrasound-guided injections can also be beneficial in the management of some musculoskeletal problems that persist in not responding to other treatments (for example, unguided injections etc).
Rami has an almost unique skill set which has seen him work extensively at university hospitals across the UK, including Kings College Hospital, London, York University Hospital and also the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne.
We are delighted to have Ramakrishna here as part of our JL PhysioFit team; his skills are complementary to our own and help us provide our patients with the widest possible spectrum of treatment, care and rehabilitation techniques.
