What is Laser Therapy?

Laser Therapy, also known as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), is a non-invasive technique that utilises specific wavelengths of light to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.

This therapy is applied directly to and around the affected area, where the light energy penetrates deep into the tissues, promoting cellular regeneration and reducing inflammation.

How Does Laser Therapy Work?

During a Laser Therapy session, the targeted tissues absorb the photons of light energy. This absorption initiates a series of biochemical reactions within the cells, leading to increased production of cellular energy (ATP), improved blood circulation, and the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body.

The effects of Laser Therapy are cumulative and will build throughout your course of treatment.

Benefits of Laser Therapy:

Pain Reduction:
Laser Therapy effectively alleviates acute and chronic pain associated with various conditions, such as arthritis, sports injuries, muscle strains, and more.

Accelerated Healing:
By enhancing cellular repair and regeneration, Laser Therapy restimulates and accelerates the healing process, reducing recovery time from injuries and surgeries.

Reduced Inflammation:
The anti-inflammatory effects of Laser Therapy help decrease swelling, promoting better mobility and function.

Non-Invasive and Safe: Laser Therapy is non-invasive, painless, and safe, making it suitable for individuals seeking drug-free and surgery-free alternatives for pain management and healing.

FAQ's

My pain has been there for a long time; can Laser Therapy help me?

Yes, Laser Therapy is used to treat both acute (new/recent pain/injury) and chronic (long-term pain). For chronic conditions, we recommend a course of 6 Laser treatments. The effects are cumulative, so you should expect to see improvements as you proceed through the treatment plan.

How many treatments will I need?

For acute conditions (new pain/injury) a course of x3 Laser Therapy treatments is recommended following the initial Physiotherapy Assessment.

For chronic conditions (long-term pain), x6 treatments are recommended following the initial Physiotherapy Assessment.

How often do I need to have them?

Ideally, we will carry out your Laser Therapy treatments no longer than one week apart. If you have a chronic condition then getting the first couple of treatments done sooner would be preferred but not a necessity.

Will it work for me?

We never tell any of our patients that Laser Therapy is guaranteed to resolve their problem because everyone is individual and people respond in different ways. We can however say that Laser Therapy has a high success rate and when all other advice around treating your condition is followed you have a much better chance of success.

How long do Laser Therapy treatments last?

Although Laser Therapy treatment can be carried out quickly (5 ā€“ 20 mins depending on the treatment area and condition), each treatment session at JL PhysioFit lasts 40 mins. This allows us to carry out the rest of the treatment plan with you to ensure the best chance of long-lasting results.

The price for an Acute Laser Therapy Programme is Ā£300, which includes your initial Physiotherapy Assessment + 3 Laser treatments.

The price for a Chronic Laser Therapy Programme is Ā£540, which includes your initial Physiotherapy Assessment + 6 Laser treatments.

*If there is time and you receive Laser Therapy in your initial assessment the price is lower.
